Important Update!
This note was written after the enclosed prayer letter (January - April 1999) was
completed, but before it was mailed.
This past Thursday evening,
April 22, Walter picked up the men for mens Bible study at 6:30 P.M. They arrived
back at the house around seven oclock. As he began to take prayer request he
suddenly lost his ability to speak and lost partial control of his right side. We
immediately took him to Princess Royal Hospital. There he was examined and put on an
intravenous solution. The doctor suspected that he had had a stroke. He counseled me to
fly him to Granada and then on to the United States where he could receive treatment. Walt
was flown to the mainland the next morning. The doctor in Grenada informed me that it
would be a risk to fly him out of the country in his current condition. He began to
improve on Saturday and permission was given on Sunday for him to fly on to the US.
Walt was still in a very weakened condition but was
improving daily. We arrived in the States on Wednesday night. He saw our family doctor on
Thursday morning who took blood and scheduled him for a series of test. One of the tests
was an MRI, which concurred that he had had a stroke. As of today he has had several tests
ran to try and find the cause of the stroke. We are still waiting for the doctors to give
us some information that will serve as a preventive solution toward warding off another
episode. We desire your prayers as he undergoes further test and that the Lord will be
glorified through every circumstance in our lives.
We are also very thankful to the churches and
individuals who have contributed to meet our unexpected travel expenses, and also those
who continue to help with various medical expenses that we are incurring. As always, God
provides and makes a way in every struggle we encounter in life. We are all eager to see
what the Lord will do with us during this trial. Thanks also for all those who have prayed
earnestly and faithful on our behalf during this time.
For your information, Windward Bible Church is
continuing on in our temporary absence. A young man is carrying on the preaching on Sunday
mornings and Wednesday night. Please remember to pray for John. He has had some struggles
over the last few months as described in the enclosed prayer letter. One other Grenadian
national, a church-planter who lives on the mainland, has also volunteered his help by
saying that he was going to try to go to Carriacou at least two weekends out of the month.
Please remember to pray for Casimer Thomas. Both of these men need prayer and financial
support.
Still looking up,
Linda and Walter for the Robinson family
