The beautiful beach runs from southwest to the northeast, and is the shore of L'Esterre Bay. It is also located at the western end of the Lauriston International Airport. When the image first loads and becomes viewable, you are looking south southeast and toward the village of L'Esterre. Normally, this sugar white sandy beach is mostly spotless and free of see weed. Adults of average height can wade out for about one hundred feet and still touch the bottom. The water is crystal clear, enabling you to see all the way down to the bottom as far as you wish to swim out. As with most beaches on Carriacou, by about 3:00 PM, the water is usually bathtub warm and just right for whatever strikes your fancy. Scanning more to the right until you are facing southwest, you see two sharp peaks, the taller one being Mt. St. Louis (586 feet). The island ends with the most western point on Carriacou, Point Cistern, which is due west from here. As you continue to move to the right you will see Mabouya Island that is a little over one mile and northwest from here. It is about a quarter mile square, and about a half mile in area. A little more to the right, and due north from here, you can see a white line on the sea's horizon. If you zoom in on it, you can see that it is a thin strip of white sand with a few palm trees standing in the center. This is Sandy Island. It is about three quarters of mile from Paradise Beach by boat. It is known for its beautiful beach and great snorkeling. Large cruise ships and personal crafts often stop off shore and allow passengers to spend time sunning on the beach, swimming, and snorkeling. A little over 10 years ago, the Robinsons encountered a production crew on Paradise Beach that was making a commercial for Coca-Cola with Sandy Island as its location! Just to the right of Sandy Island is Lauriston Point. As I recall, just beyond and around its point is another nice shallow beach that is just right for very small children. At the extreme right end of the movie scan, you can see the north end of Paradise Beach where a boat is undergoing repairs. Again, this beach is normally and mostly spotless and free from withered vegetation. I hope to take better photos of this area and create a better movie in the future. If you desire a comfortable and scenic place to relax as the sun beds down for the night, Paradise Beach is the place! Images were taken in April of 2002, in the middle of the dry season.
